What Jan has to say:by Jan Wingender|janw@dib-comics.com |
| Due to ye olde problem which is inevitable when working with puns the German comic differs from the English one today. Good news, everyone! I'm still technically alive! You're probably wondering why the updates have become so unfrequent and why I haven't written anything in the commentary section for almost three weeks. Well, plain and simple: I've been busy. First there were the Summerbreeze and Rock Area festivals which took up a lot of my time. And as soon as I returned from there I had to do a lot of stuff for my big journey. "What big journey?" you may ask? Well, to Japan of course. I didn't make that up just for the comic. I'll actually be living and studying in Tokyo starting this coming weekend. I definitely intend to continue DIB Comics when I'm there. I promise. But I can't tell in which way my stay on the other side of the planet will influence my work. Don't worry. I won't switch to a manga style (people have jokingly asked me this), mostly for lack of artistic skill. I also can't tell when I'll be able to update DIB 3 times a week again, because once I'm in Japan I'll have to take care of a lot of bureaucratic stuff which will most definitely take up a lot of time. For those of you who want to know what my life in Japan is like, I've decided to start a live journal. It's English only for your convenience: Creating an account was a real pain the ass because LJ didn't want to accept my passwords ("Your password does not contain any numbers or signs", "Your password can not be username related (WTF???)", and so on). And I also have something more for your ears. Enjoy! My friend Benedikt aka Sephy also asked me to put up a link to a collection of musical pieces he composed (or interpreted) in his free time. BEWARE! It's not metal ;) A co-worker was sick yesterday and I had to jump in for him. That's why I couldn't get the comic done. Sorry! Lucky me was tired enough to get some sleep in that "Nature One" night. Many others did not. I saw the following bands on Saturday: Onkel Tom: Unfortunately I wasn't nearly as drunk as I should have been. But they were great anyway. Pain: You read the comic. Volbeat: Also great. And they played Slayer at the end^^ GWAR: GWAR do not exist from a musical point of view. But their show is one of a kind. Friday morning was indeed strange. Not just the people in my camp but pretty much everybody in our camp area asked me if I was alright. Weird.^^ I saw the following bands on Friday: Nevermore: Brilliant! Nice circle pit and an awesome sound (unlike 2006). Airbourne: I intended to see Dragonforce, but some friends talked me into Airbourne. They were okay, but not exactly my kind of beer. But that climbing stunt was really breathtaking 0o Swashbuckle: The comic says it. I still have bruises. Swashbuckle might be not too well known NOW, but they will be in a year or so. Trust me. Motörhead: Since I needed a break after Swashbuckle, I only saw the second half of Lemmy & Co. Doesn't matter, because anybody, who's seen them more than twice will agree that their gigs are really good but pretty much the same every time. In Flames: What is there to say about In Flames? They were awesome as always. Anders Friden seems to be bisexual and nympho since he wanted to sleep with everyone in the crowd. It'd let him have me! ;) Saturday's comic will be about uhm... Saturday. Wacken was awesome. As usual. I didn't want to, but I managed to be comatose for almost all of the first three days. Which was probably disappointing for some of the readers who wanted to meet me in a condition where I was actually able to articulate myself. The fan meeting at the beer garden was great. In gerenal I can say that meeting some of those degenerates who read my shit and actually think it's funny was a great experience. However, I was too much for me at a certain point. I'm sorry for that, but I'm only human. As you probably noticed ;) As for the comic: I'll aks Hans to upload the new ones. Either he will or he won't^^ |
